About the Fermentary

Three Mountains Cocoa partners with more than 2,000 farmers across eight communities surrounding three protected mountains within a UNESCO-supported conservation area. Through premium payments, farmer education, organic certification support, and regenerative agriculture initiatives, the organization helps strengthen both local livelihoods and the surrounding forest ecosystem.

About the Region

Although cacao is native to the Americas, it arrived in present-day Ghana during the nineteenth century when European traders introduced cacao cultivation to the Gold Coast. Ghana would eventually become the world's largest cocoa producer during much of the twentieth century and remains one of the most important cacao-producing countries today.
